About the Symposium
The McMaster Chemical Biology Graduate (MCBG) Symposium showcases a diverse range of impactful world-class research being conducted by graduate students in our Chemical Biology Graduate Program at McMaster.
Our 2021 symposium will be a virtual event, hosted on Zoom, on December 14th and 15th. The symposium will feature three seminars by plenary speakers and several presentations by our graduate students that highlight recently-published and ongoing research successes!
Plenary Speakers
Dr. Andrew King, Scientist at Empress Therapeutics, Cambridge MA
Dr. King is an alumnus of our Chemical Biology Graduate Program. He completed his graduate studies in Prof. Gerry Wright's laboratory and obtained his PhD at McMaster in 2015.
Dr. Moustafa Algamal, Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA
Dr. Algamal is also an alumnus of our Chemical Biology Graduate Program. He obtained his MSc degree in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Giuseppe Melacini.
Dr. Katherine Bujold, Assistant Professor, Chemistry and Chemical BIology, McMaster University
Dr. Bujold recently started her independent academic career at McMaster, in 2020, after a PhD in the lab of Prof. Hanadi Sleiman at McGill University and postoctoral studies with Prof. Chad Mirkin at Northwestern University. Dr. Bujold's research program focuses on the design, synthesis, and biomedical applications of unique oligonucleotides with modified nucleic acid architectures.
